Shuibei International Center: A Testament to Aedas' Architectural Excellence

Golden A' Design Award Winner Brings Bamboo-Inspired Innovation to Office Spaces

Located in the heart of an industrial park, the Shuibei International Center stands tall at 197.5 meters. The complex comprises an office tower and a podium mall, unified by a segmented design inspired by bamboo. The tower's segmented, bamboo-like structure symbolizes the Taoist philosophy of "one in life, two in three, three in all", representing the heaven, earth, and man.

The building's unique properties extend beyond its architectural design. The complex features multiple sky gardens spread across the podium and tower, creating habitable spaces and multifunctional exhibition areas. A landscaped staircase on the podium serves as an exhibition space for cultural events, blurring the boundaries between interior and exterior spaces.

The design's realization technology is equally impressive. The tower's curtain wall employs a unit-type glass window, while the podium's metal curtain wall uses a slotted curtain wall, optimizing the flat surface to save cost. The total area of the complex is 105,000 sqm, with 43 floors above ground and 4 floors in the basement. The tower's standard floor averages 1680 sqm, with an office floor height of 4.5m and a clearance of 3m.

The project, which started in May 2015 and concluded in September 2020, faced several challenges due to its location in a high-density neighborhood with multifunction programs. The design team, led by Dr. Andy Wen and Liu Yan, had to carefully navigate these limitations while exploring new ways to achieve a sustainable design. The result is a unique, aesthetically pleasing, and economically viable building that truly represents the district's identity.

The Shuibei International Center's innovative design and successful realization have earned it the prestigious Golden A' Architecture, Building, and Structure Design Award in 2021. This accolade is granted to marvelous, outstanding, and trendsetting creations that reflect the designer's prodigy and wisdom. They are venerated products and bright ideas that advance art, science, design, and technology, embodying extraordinary excellence and significantly impacting the world with their desirable characteristics.
